History
  • Foundation stone laid in 1928 by George VI, then Duke of York.
  • A Royal charter, granted in 1954; Hull is the fourteenth-oldest University in England.
  • In the 1970s, the university’s chemistry labs developed the first viable liquid crystal technology.
Location and Transport
  • The university has campuses in Hull and Scarborough.
  • Hull and Scarborough have good transport links; there are eight direct trains a day from Hull to London.
