- At DMU we hold a number of Open Days throughout the year to give you an idea of what life is like at university. A list of upcoming Open Days is available on the DMU website.
- Our Open Days are packed full of activities, including tours of our modern campus and accommodation, the opportunity to meet course tutors, find out about the many courses we offer and much, much more. Friends and family are welcome too.
- Our Student Ambassadors will also be on hand to chat to you. They currently study at DMU and can give you a taster of what life at university is really like.

- Leicester is a vibrant city of the future and, with a staggering £3 billion of recent investment, it boasts a brand new shopping centre, a world class theatre and much more.
- Partly funded by DMU and with three cinema screens, a digital exhibition space and digital production facilities, Phoenix Square is a digital arts centre of the future and includes De Montfort University Cube, a unique, interactive digital art space where poetry meets gaming, image meets sound and performance meets installation.
- Curve is a £59 million iconic performing arts centre, designed by world-famous architect Rafael Viñoly and hosting stars such as Marc Warren and Oscar-winner Juliette Binoche.
- The new £350-million Highcross shopping centre is the most technologically advanced in the UK, with 120 shops, 15 restaurants and cafes and Leicester's first multiplex cinema.
- Leicester caters for just about every taste with food and drink from all around the world. If you can think of it, chances are you will find it in Leicester, from family-run Italians to sushi and tapas. And in 2007 Leicester received the award of Curry Capital.
- Leicester is also known for its sporting excellence with both football and rugby teams and the chance for you to take part yourself at DMU's very own sports centre.
- Leicester is ideally located for you to travel to all parts of the country. The M1, A1, M69 and M6 allow easy access to both the north and south, as well as the Midlands and Wales. There is a network of routes for cyclists and good bus and train links to the rest of the country. Leicester is just 75 minutes from London St Pancras. East Midlands Airport is just 30 minutes away.
- All accommodation is modern and high quality and many rooms have en-suite bathrooms and internet access.
- All halls of residence are self catering and cost between £74 and £90 per week. Private sector rental averages £50 to £55 per week, excluding bills.

- Around two thirds of all DMU students are entitled to some level of funding.
- Tuition fees (2010): £3,290 for UK/EU students.
- Placement year tuition fee (2010): £650.
- Equivalent Level Qualifications (for students who already have a qualification of an equivalent or higher level - only applies to UK and EU students) £5,000 for full-time students.
- £1,000 Care Leaver Bursary for students entering university from care.
- £1,700 Academic Scholarship for students with at least 300 UCAS points, achieved in A2 level subjects, in a single academic sitting.
- £1,000 Access Scholarship for students entering DMU with an Access qualification.
- £1,000 Estranged Student Bursary. Eligible students are identified as estranged by the SLC.
- £2,906 maximum Maintenance Grant.

- Ten per cent of our students are international and come from 125 countries around the world creating a vibrant cultural campus.
- Just over half of our students are female and a quarter of undergraduates are over 21 when they start their studies.

- DMU has one of the highest numbers of National Teaching Fellows of any university.
- In 2005, DMU was awarded Centre for Excellence status for its distinguished reputation in Performing Arts. The centre is supported by £4.5 million from the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), along with £6.8 million of direct investment from the university.
- In recognition of DMU's strong record of business partnership £4.7 million was awarded by HEFCE to develop higher-level education and training opportunities for work-based learning. This is more than any other East Midlands university and the third largest award nationally.
- Leicester Business School was ranked seventh for overall student satisfaction in the Times Good University Guide 2010.

- Nearly half of our research was rated as internationally excellent or world-leading by the government's Research Assessment Exercise 2008.
- The Institute of Creative Technologies is known internationally for cutting-edge research in e-sciences, digital arts and humanities.
- DMU has a strong research track record in the public sector, including the health sector, social policy and local governance.
- The Institute of Energy and Sustainable Development's groundbreaking research was rated very highly, with 65 per cent being classed as 'internationally excellent' and 'world leading'.
- Between 1998 and 2008 DMU was awarded more grants by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council than any other post 1992 university.

- Around 95 per cent of DMU students are in full-time employment or further study within six months of completing their course.
- DMU produces more graduates who start up their own businesses or become self-employed than any other East Midlands university. In 2007–08 our graduates were responsible for 138 business start-ups.

- The library has wireless networks, more than 400 computers, syndicate rooms for group work, 24-hour opening, a café and a brand new learning zone.
- DMU provides free internet access and Google Mail accounts and calendars for all students, as well as extensive e-learning resources.
- Excellent student support is available, including careers advice, finance advice, counselling, international welfare advice and more.
- DMU came top out of all East Midlands universities, and eighth in the UK, in a survey into accessibility for disabled students. The survey was carried out by Trailblazers, a nationwide organisation, made up of young disabled and non-disabled campaigners.

- The £35-million landmark Hugh Aston Building for Business & Law, due to be completed September 2009, will provide state-of-the-art facilities for DMU students as well as transforming the entrance to our City Campus. The building's design was rated 'excellent' for energy efficiency by the Building Research Establishment and includes a law library and a mock court room.
- Many students have part-time jobs and usually work around 12 hours per week during term time.
- Leicester is a student-focused city with many part-time opportunities, from bar, restaurant and shop work, to office work.
