History
- The Arts Institute at Bournemouth (AIB) was originally founded over 100 years ago as a specialist arts institution.
- It became an HEI in 2001.
- It was awarded Taught Degree Awarding Powers in 2008 and will become a University College in due course.
- Situated on the south coast of England, with good train links to London and ferry/air routes to Europe.
- Dorset has outstanding natural beauty with wonderful beaches and unspoilt countryside (including the New Forest and the Purbeck Hills).
- Much historic and artistic interest with large towns such as Bournemouth also offering a vibrant, youthful environment.
- A limited number of Halls places (both campus and town centre) but Bournemouth has ample rental accommodation at reasonable rates.

In receipt of Partial Maintenance Grant £200
Tuition fees (2009): £3,225
Students will also receive a bonus of £150 on successful completion of their first year, £250 after their second year and a further £500 upon completion of their final year.- All students who receive a grant of £1,075 – £2,905, will receive a sum of £200.
- Up to 30 students from designated target groups will receive a 25% reduction on halls fees.
- All students from designated schools and colleges will receive up to £350 per year for bus company travelcards.
- Students who receive a grant of £1,075 or above will receive up to £175 in vouchers for bicycles and accessories.
- Students from care will receive an additional £2,000 per year.

- 85% from the UK, 5% from the EU, 10% from overseas.
- Students on all courses undertake a range of self-directed project units which lets them focus on areas of particular interest.
- The Institute was in the top 25% in the National Student Survey for teaching, assessment, academic support, learning resources and personal development.
- Excellent reputation for courses in the creative arts and design.
- Over 95% of students have secured employment within six months of graduation.
- Largest specialist purpose-built library outside London, with unique Plastics Museum.

Availability of part-time work
- Students are eligible to apply to become Student Ambassadors and to undertake occasional paid work for the Institute.
